Parking Situation Stresses Out Students

October 19, 2008 by Anonymous

I find it incredible that a college with so many thousands of people cannot provide sufficient parking for its students.

A person trying to find a parking space any time past 9 o'clock is usually out of luck. They have to wander around the parking lots and garage for ridiculous amounts of time just trying to find a place to store their vehicle.

I have even heard stories of how my friends have had to pick out a random person and follow them as they return to their vehicle because that is the only way they are able to find a free parking space.

Here is my question to you. Is it really good for the well being of the school to have students late to class because they can't find a parking spot? Not only does this affect the stress level of the students, but it also may affect grades due to the fact that students are not able to hear the teacher's entire lecture due to the tardiness of their arrival.

For the benefit of our students and school, I strongly believe that this problem should be addressed quickly and efficiently.

I do agree that parking can be a mess, especially fall qtr. One of the problems is how can it be addressed? Columbus state is land locked on all sides. There is the parking down past BalletMet that most of the time you can always find a spot, just have to have some walking time (vs waiting time in your car).
