Columbus will soon play host to a few of the nation’s top acts. Upcoming events include the Alkaline Trio hitting Newport Music Hall Mar. 3 and John Mayer at Nationwide Arena on the Mar. 12. In addition, both Mariah Carrey and the Black Eyed Peas will stop at Value City Arena in February: Carrey on Feb. 10 and the Peas the Feb. 16.
COLUMBUS - With the New Year underway, the spring concert lineups for Columbus are set to take stage, with a vast majority being housed at Promowest Pavilion.
It wasn’t the standard hipster regulars bumping elbows this past Thanksgiving Eve at Carabar. The special guests of honor, The Gods, brought an older generation of rockers; complete with Budweiser, long hair, studded boots, and plenty of leather. It gave a whole new perspective on what cool really means.

Crew Stadium once again will host Rock on the Range.
For the past couple years around mid-May, Crew Stadium has housed one of the biggest music festivals to come to the Midwest: Rock on the Range. A bundle of mainstream rock music artists will come together this year for a two-day event May 16-17. Past artists include, ZZ Top, Papa Roach, Velvet Revolver, Stone Temple Pilots, Killswitch Engage, Kid Rock, and plenty of others.
Mother Mother is one of those bands that you have to read into before you can dive right into.
For starters, they're from Canada, which has been churning out indie musicians for the past couple of years. Mother Mother has a very odd range of genres. Their music goes from country riffs to dop-wop vocals.
The phrase "freshman fifteen" is no longer feared by many college students throughout the U.S. thanks to an awesome band from Georgia. Davey Fortner, Breck Blanchard, Jeremy Smith and Bj Formella are the heart and soul of the up and coming pop-punk band, Freshman 15.
Never Ending Conflict is a four-piece band originating from Minster and Bluffton, Ohio, which just released its newest CD, One Slip Away.
The new CD has a vocal sound of Breaking Benjamin, with unique sounding guitar riffs and drumming. “It’s hard to describe how we sound, we have a unique style and many different influence,” said Tony Schmiesing, drummer for Never Ending Conflict.
True hip-hop is a rare gem, and when it’s found, people can’t keep it to themselves. Camouflaged by neighboring Bodega and housing, Café Bourbon Street sits patiently, waiting for kids to come and remember what hip-hop really is.
For the local band Chelsea Automatic, anything less than world domination through their music is unacceptable.
"We have already taken the proper steps to take over Columbus. Our musical motto is: first Columbus, and then the world," stated lead singer J Fina.
