Mason, Jackets Outlast Bruins

Coming into to Tuesday’s heavyweight goaltending battle, Boston’s Tim Thomas had a league leading 2.08 goals against average, and Columbus’ Steve Mason had the second best with a 2.24 average. But home ice and a little help from the defense gave the Columbus Blue Jackets a 2-0 victory over the Boston Bruins who remain the Eastern Conference’s top team.

Friday the 13th brought a pair of goals each scored by a pair of Jasons in a wild 3-2 win for the Columbus Blue Jackets over the Detroit Red Wings in front of one of the largest crowds ever to witness a game in Nationwide Arena.
 
The Blue Jackets have won three in a row, and are 18-9-1 at home. The loss snapped a six game winning streak for the red-hot Red Wings.

Cougars Split With Surge

The Columbus State men's basketball team, ranked third in the nation, defeated the Cincinnati State Surge Wednesday evening 69-63 to stay atop the OCCAC standings. The Cougars will host the Owens Express Saturday. Columbus State is 7-1 in conference and 20-2 overall.

Inquisition on Phelps Must End, Some Students Say

Michael Phelps has won 14 career Olympic Gold Medals, the most by any Olympian. He can be considered the most physically gifted swimmer of all-time.
 
A British newspaper showed a picture of Phelps holding and inhaling from a marijuana bong. Immediately Phelps apologized and admitted that he regrettably and was using "bad judgment."
 

Crew Plays Way into MLS Cup

Columbus carried the momentum for the better part of the game Monday night, but a dismal finish to the game gave the Anaheim Ducks a 3-2 victory in Nationwide Arena.

The Blue Jackets drop to 3-6 on the season, and have lost three straight. Anaheim now has a four game winning streak, all of which on the road. The Ducks are back to .500 at 5-5.
